Andrew Staines was a British Army captain who was implicated in first contact negotiations with a group of extraterrestrial beings known only as the 456. He left the Scots Guards in 1965 and retrained as a teacher, taking his first post at Reading Grammar School. He retired in 1992 and was married with four children. In September 2009, Home Office Permanent Secretary John Frobisher issued orders to kill Staines, Michael Sanders, Ellen Hunt and Jack Harkness to cover up the British government's prior involvement with the 456.
